Thank you to Everyone who Supported the Launch of Joyful Joy


Thank you to everyone who supported the Launch of Joyful Joy. New York City professionals, elected officials, celebrities, and notable figures in the corporate and nonprofit sectors came out in large numbers to help make our celebration an overwhelming success.

Guests were treated to a program of performances that included Greg Banks, Brianna Colette, Traditional Ivory Coast drummers and dancers Kotchegna and Mexica Dance Group Kalpulli Huehuetlahtoli who offered a blessing in the form of dance.

Skip Dillard – Board Member

Mr. Dillard is the Operations Manager/Program Director at Inner City Broadcasting’s WBLS/WLIB New York.

In 1988, while still a student at Hampton, Mr. Dillard got his start in commercial radio at WOWI-FM Norfolk. Mr. Dillard expanded his knowledge and skill set outside of 2003 when he spent a year as Top40/Urban Editor for Billboard Magazine’s Airplay Monitor. A career in radio then became his main focus.

Mr. Dillard enjoys sharing his love and belief in the power of radio with everyone from college students, to advertisers and community leaders.

Mr. Dillard specializes in management, research analysis, urban, and rhythmic top 40 and urban AC format programming. He is also engaged in talent coaching and editorial writing.


Mr. Dillard is a member of the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters.

Patricia Pamy, MD – Board Member

Dr. Patricia Pamy is an Emergency Medicine Physician with Trinitas Hospital at Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Dr. Pamy served on the Board of Directors to the nonprofit Happy Living. As part of her responsibilities, she supported the financial needs of Happy Living in her capacity as its Treasurer; a position she has held in other non-profit organizations prior to becoming a medical doctor.

To increase her capacity to provide the best health care, Dr. Pamy will soon be completing a course on Tropical Disease.


Dr. Pamy served as a research assistant at the Rockefeller University, NY and was responsible for the development and maintenance of literature used for proposals to the National Institutes of Health.

Noelle LuSane – Board Member

Ms. LuSane is an actor and a singer who was most recently seen as Betty in All-American Girls: A Negro League of Their Own, Off-Broadway, various commercials, and on One Life to Live. Prior to pursuing an acting career, Ms. LuSane was in public service on Capitol Hill, the last four years of which she served as the Staff Director of the United States House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, chaired by Congressman Donald M. Payne (NJ-10). In this capacity she drove the legislative agenda for the Subcommittee and the foreign affairs agenda of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). Previously, as professional staff member of the Subcommittee and foreign affairs advisor to Congressman Payne, her regional portfolio included Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and the Middle East and her topical portfolio included conflict and post-conflict situations, human rights, global health, development, democracy and governance, State Department operations, and international organizations. Ms. LuSane co-founded the House Afro-Latino Staff Working Group whose objective is to shape U.S. policy toward Latin America according to the needs and conditions of Afro-Descendants.


A resident of Washington, D.C. from 2001 to 2010, Ms. LuSane received her Master’s in Education and Human Development with a focus on International Education from The George Washington University in 2008. She is a native of New Jersey where she studied Spanish and Anthropology at Douglass College of Rutgers University as a James Dickson Carr Scholar. She spent a year of study at the Universitat de Valencia in Spain. Ms. LuSane’s work and interests have taken her to Southern, East, West, and North Africa, South and Central America, the Caribbean, East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Western and Southern Europe.

Honors and Awards: Noelle Lusane was featured in Forbes Magazines’ 40 Under 40 Leaders in International Development.

Larry L. Meadows Jr. – Board Member

Larry Meadows is a speaker and instructor on leadership, health and quality of life. Mr. Meadows has worked as an auditor for the public accounting firms, Arthur Andersen, LLP and Mitchell & Titus, LLP. In an effort to extend his knowledge base, Meadows transitioned from public accounting to private and took a job at Black Entertainment Television as Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis. Meadows left BET after three years, completed a short stint at the American Red Cross, and founded LLMJ Consulting in 2003. LLMJ Consulting provides strategic and financial consulting for businesses and individuals.

In June 2005, Meadows was elected President of the Thursday Network, the Young Professionals auxiliary of the Greater Washington Urban League for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. As president, he also served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Washington Urban League. In his tenure as president, Thursday Network was awarded the Chapter of Excellence Award out of 57 chapters nationwide by the National Urban League.


Mr. Meadows academic background includes an accounting degree and an MBA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His Massage Therapy certification was earned at the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church, VA. Meadows is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Kevin McGovern – Board Member

Kevin McGovern, (AB ’70 Cornell University, JD St. Johns University School of Law) is the Chairman of The Water Initiative. Mr. McGovern has founded over fifteen companies, six of which have become world/category leaders, McGovern has also been lead negotiator/principal in over twenty-five (25) global joint ventures; As Chairman of McGovern Capital, a global investment, strategy and licensing provider to global businesses, he is also affiliated with McGovern & Associates, a corporate law firm specializing in both technology and intellectual property.

McGovern Capital was one of three owners of KX Industries, L.P., the largest manufacturer and worldwide source of carbon air and water purification filters. KXI holds over 60 issued patents and has created and supplied the initial “end of the tap” filters ($US 500 million market) for both Procter and Gamble under the “PUR” brand and Clorox under the “Brita” brand. In 1996, KX Industries invented and supplied the first refrigerator water filters – currently a $US 300 million market.


Mr. McGovern is also renowned for his nanotechnology involvement, serving as co-chairman of Angstrom Publishing LLC. Angstrom Publishing LLC and Forbes Magazine co-publish a global monthly Nanotechnology newsletter, entitled The Forbes/Wolfe NanoTech Report.

Mr. McGovern has served on Cornell’s Board of Trustees since 2001 and serves as Co-Chairman of Cornell’s Technology/IP Committee. Mr. McGovern was named the Cornell “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2007 and was recently given St. John’s “Distinguished Alumni Award” in 2010.

Ebony Omede, Esq. – Board Member

Ebony Omede-Anuforo has established herself as an attorney, entrepreneur, consultant, speaker, life coach and business strategist. She is the founder and President of Ebby Foro Solutions, which specializes in Business Management, Entrepreneur Coaching, Organizational and Leadership Development Training, and Small Business Consulting. Ebony Omede-Anuforo is a graduate of Stony Brook University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Public Policy. Mrs. Omede later went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School in Newark New Jersey, where she was Associate Editor of the Rutgers Conflict Resolution Law Journal.


Mrs. Omede has worked as a Project Coordinator of Energy Programs, in the Corporate Engineering Department of New York Presbyterian Hospital. As Project Coordinator, Mrs. Omede assisted with the management of a $70 million energy procurement portfolio including power, renewable, natural gas and fuel.

Ebony is also a co-founder of Omo Naija Magazine, a quarterly cultural magazine and writes for the column “Minding Your Business”. She has assisted many small businesses and non-profit organizations with incorporation, tax-exemption 1023 filing, legal auditing, and contract drafting.

Aletha Maybank, MD – Board Member

Dr. Aletha Maybank is a board-certified physician and administrator with demonstrated excellence in public health, policy development, communications, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Maybank’s principal strengths are in the areas of media, partnership/relationship building, community-based participatory research methods, and organizational and community assessments necessary in developing effective communication points and social marketing strategies to improve the health of various communities. She has additional expertise in food and fitness, maternal and child health, cancer, HIV/AIDS, community health, and health inequities.


Presently, Dr. Maybank is the Assistant Commissioner with the NYC Department of Health. From 2005-2009, Dr. Maybank was the Founding Director with the Office of Minority Health, with the Suffolk County Dept. of Health. Dr. Maybank served as a Jr. Pediatric Attending with St. Luke’s Hospital from 2004-2006. At Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital/Columbia University, Dr. Maybank served as a Clinical Instructor, from 2003-2004.

Sioux Greaux – Co-Founder/Managing Dir.

Driven by her fearlessness and desire to push beyond barriers, Ms. Greaux is a strong leader who has taken up the task of positioning collaborative efforts amongst notable NGOs, private sector, government officials and community members to generate social and economic benefits in selected communities by offering programs focused on ending hunger, preventable disease and providing economic development opportunities. 

As a dedicated business executive, Ms. Greaux leads strategy, communication, and fundraising initiatives; working across boundaries to support organizational initiatives with global partners, enormously contributing to better operations in this increasingly interconnected world.

As a committed an active member of the indigenous community, Ms. Greaux makes the best use of cultural diplomacy as a strategy to promote mutual understanding across cultures and to articulate the challenge of international development in terms that reflect the universal spirit of human nature, as well as the institutional priorities of corporations and governments.

Osas Ighodaro – Founder

Founder of the Joyful Joy Foundation, Osas Ighodaro was born and raised in the Bronx. As a first-generation Nigerian-American, Osas strongly values the importance of family, giving back and staying connected to her roots.

Ms. Ighodaro graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and dual minor degrees in Entrepreneurship and Theatre. She also holds a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from the Actor’s Studio Drama School at Pace University.

Ms. Ighodaro’s work as an actor, spokesperson, humanitarian and Miss Black USA 2010, has carried her throughout the United States and across the globe. As she travels, she remains deeply committed to ending hunger, preventable disease and supporting poverty alleviation in Africa.

Ms. Ighodaro is dedicated to making a difference in the world each and every day, one community at a time.


Most recently, Osas accepted a position with AMREF to serve as an Ambassador for their “Stand Up For African Mothers” campaign. Osas is also a celebrity spokesperson for the nonprofit, Malaria No More and serves as a celebrity advocate for the Obama campaign.
